MEG VAZQUEZ

//Ask//   Other Good Stuff

I'm Meg; equal parts designer, illustrator, and printmaker currently residing in Washington, DC. This is a blog of my process + current projects. Feel free to ask me anything (but keep it polite) and thanks for visiting!

twitter.com/Meaghatron:

    My name is Meg Vazquez and I’m a Junior at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA). My concentrations are Illustration and Graphic Design along with an emphasis on printmaking. I want to use this Tumblr as a window into my mind, a way to share thoughts and ideas that I have along with things that I see that I really love. I hope you and enjoy :) and tell your friends!

    Finished product of my piece for the Community Law Center.
Too bad it cost about a MILLION dollars to print (in real life only 20 but still… that’s grocery money).

    ART MARKET!!!
This is my first prototype for the laptop sleeves I’ll be selling at Art Market (horrible quality again, I need to charge my Nikon for once…)
Description:
Laptop sleeves (fitting either 13” or 15” laptops) embroidered with band inspired designs [in this case, of Montreal]
*I’m planning on doing designs inspired by: Justice, M.I.A., Ratatat, Fleet Foxes, the Black Keys, Discovery, Arcade Fire, Yacht, and Passion Pit

    My current Illustration Concepts project was to come up with a design for an issue of the Urbanite magazine. The theme was innovation and that was pretty much our only guideline. My idea was to take the common business man (of the…future!) and innovate a way for him to travel faster while multi-tasking. Here’s the process, I’m sure I’ll end up tweaking it but I’m pretty happy with it right now.

    Illustration II

    "Well THAT’S not what I expected…"

    For Illustration II we were given the prompt listed above and had to come up with a solution using only pen and ink (cross hatching) after that we had to go back to the drawing board and render using only solid shapes. I illustrated a priest with no pants on (and a seemingly seductive smile?). I really like my cross hatching piece but the relief copy just feels lacking.
